U.S. Stock Futures Are Lower With the Situation in Ukraine Escalating
U.S. stock futures are lower: The situation in Ukraine continue to drive futures lower. Russian President Putin ordered troops into two breakaway provinces of Ukraine, escalating an already tense situation. Global equity markets are mainly lower but did recover some of the steeper losses this morning. The U.K announced targeted economic sanctions against five Russian banks and wealthy individuals. International energy prices jumped after Russian troop movement as worries about oil/gas production disruptions are increasing. Treasury yields are basically flat after declines from last week as investors find safety in Treasuries. European markets reversed early trading losses and Asian markets closed mainly down for the day. Credit spreads on high yield and investment grades have widened a few basis points.
