Stock Futures Are Moving Higher This Morning As Markets Kicked Off A Busy Week Of Earnings Yesterday
U.S. stock futures are higher. U.S. stock futures are moving higher this morning. Yesterday, markets kicked off a busy week of earnings with a slightly lower close for the S&P 500 Index. Yields are mostly unchanged after coming down off cycle highs late last week. So far over 17% of S&P 500 companies have reported quarterly results with 73% of those companies beating earnings expectations. The earnings picture will become clearer in the coming days with approximately one-third of S&P 500 companies set to report this week. On the economic calendar, October Flash PMI data will be released shortly after the market open. Looking to markets abroad, Asian stocks rebounded from losses to close mostly to the upside in response to economic data out of Japan and Australia. European stocks are holding on to gains in afternoon trading. The US dollar is strengthening to push past some overnight weakness. Crude oil prices are gaining and gold prices are declining as the commodities markets continue to eye economic and geopolitical developments
